Gem Forge

The Gem Forge

The Gem Forge allows you to upgrade gems to a higher tier, at a cost. – located in 3,2 Bladeforge. The forge allows you to, for a price, attempt to upgrade a gem to a higher tier. It isn’t always successful, but it can be very expensive and rewarding in the long run!

DISCLAIMER: The gem forge is sometimes disabled for rounds, so if it is not there the gem forge is offline.

Fusion Points

The main resource of using the gem forge is Fusion Points(FP). This is gained through a variety of places:

  • Quest rewards – gain a random resource upon completing a quest
  • Smashing Shadow/Mythic/Ancest/Godly Gear – Done at the Fusion Machine which gives you FP based on the IC. Smashing Ancest/Godly is an experienced method when you start duping higher tier-gear (Recommended Method).
  • Mob Farming – Equipping gear full of tiger eye gems and harvester ring (among other buffs) and kill enemies in a zone with a high chance of FP. Check zone information to find the best zone (Experienced Method)
  • Fleet Admiral Conquest – Found in 8,8 Open Water, this allows you to find and kill specific special monsters to gain ‘badges’, which are turned in for a resource of your choice (except gold).

The cost per gem upgrade attempt depends on its tier:

  • Tier 1 (*): 25
  • Tier 2 (**): 50
  • Tier 3 (***): 75
  • Tier 4 (****): 100
  • Tier 5 (*****): 200
  • Tier 6 (^6): 400
  • Tier 7 (^7): 700
  • Tier 8 (^8): 1000

Forge Ranks

When upgrading gems, it is possible to receive You made progress in the art of forging! This means your forge rank gained +1 levels. The more you use the forge, the more adept you will become at it, gaining various bonuses. You can check your rank at Royal University when checking masteries. Gems Tier 4 and below can be upgraded at any rank, however tier 5 and above require ranks

After achieving certain forge rankings, you are given various bonuses which stack:

  • Slacker (Lv 0): None
  • Whelp (Lv 10): +1 Forge Bonus
  • Novice (Lv 25): +2 Forge Bonus & -10% FP Cost
  • Apprentice (Lv 40): +3 Forge Bonus & 10% chance gem doesn’t degrade.
  • Journeyman (Lv 55): +4 Forge Bonus & -20% FP Cost. Can upgrade tier 5 gems.
  • Adept (Lv 70): +5 Forge Bonus & 5% Chance no FP is used. Can upgrade tier 6 gems.
  • Expert (Lv 85): +6 Forge Bonus & -40% FP Cost. Can upgrade tier 7 gems.
  • Master (Lv 100): +7 Forge Bonus & Increased chance to double-upgrade gem. Can upgrade tier 8 gems.

Forge Bonus increases your chances at upgrading a gem. Other ways to add more to your bonus other than increasing your rank is completing The Forger(5,555) Conquest and becoming the Blacksmith (4,250), Ironworker (15k), and Master Blacksmith (100k) Professions.

Your base chance of upgrading gems are:

  • Tier 1: 22 + Forge Bonus
  • Tier 2: 19 + Forge Bonus
  • Tier 3: 16 + Forge Bonus
  • Tier 4: 13 + Forge Bonus
  • Tier 5: 10 + Forge Bonus
  • Tier 6: 7 + Forge Bonus
  • Tier 7: 4 + Forge Bonus
  • Tier 8: 1 + Forge Bonus

The formula for calculating a success is then:

  • chance = Base Chance[grade of gem] * (1 + forge level / 100)
  • A number is randomly generated from 1 to 100. If that number is lower or equal to chance, then the gem is upgraded.

Upgrading

After selecting the gem and assuming you have enough FP, one of several actions can happen:

  • Fail
    • Save FP – The gem is downgraded by 1 tier, and no FP is used.
    • Lose FP – the gem is downgraded by 1 tier, and FP is used.
    • Downgrade – If rank Apprentice or higher, given a 1 / 10 chance to not downgrade the gem.
    • Shatter – Downgrading a tier 1 gem results in losing it permanently.
      • There is a 1 / 200 chance for any gem to completely shatter, regardless of tier.
  • Upgrade
    • Save FP – The gem upgrades to the next tier, costing no FP.
      • If rank Adept or higher only – 1 / 20 chance.
    • Lose FP – The gem upgrades to the next tier, costing FP.
    • Double-Upgrade – The gem upgrades 2 tiers, costing FP.
      • 1 / 125 chance. 1 / 100 if rank Master.

You can refer to the in-game command /forge for similar information.

Downgrading

The gem degrader is used to downgrade any gem by 1 tier and cannot shatter. This is a useful feature for certain conquests where you need specific gems. At this time, it costs nothing to downgrade but may change in the future.
